Was hoping that somebody could help me.
I'd like to know how to get a screenshot of my desktop, I have tried before using screenshot software, but all I got was a pic of the desktop wallpaper. I want to be able to create a screenshot of my whole desktop.
Can somebody help me out here?

Print Screen, It's a button on your keyboard. Should be on the top line, right side.

When i want to make a screenshot I use a program called HyperSnap-DX5. its an amazing program very easy to configure and you can get an excellent quality. Hope this helped.

Hmmm, never figured out why anyone would use a program to get a screenshot when 'Print Scrn' works fine....

some times gamers and the such want in game screen shots .. and not always does games/etc allow the print screen button to snap a pic...so an external prog will need to be used ..but in this case the print screen button should work fine

Thanks for that mate. However, I have just one stupid question
How do I access the clipboard??
Found the printscreen key alright. set up the desktop ready to take a snapshot, pressed PrintScreen, and I'm assuming a snapshot was taken. but where the heck to I find it?

Just open up paint or photoshop, and just press ctrl+v to paste the image. I'd also recommend IfranView to take screenshots. It will give you the option of taking a shot of your whole desktop, an individual window (like your browser, notepad, etc) or of a client area. Then after the shot has been taken you can just go to file > save as.

Great advice above, but if you reeeally want to see the viewer (lol) you can try either of the following:
1. Click START > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Clipboard Viewer
2. Click the Start menu button and open My Computer.
Open your C drive.
Double-click on the Windows folder. (You might have to tell it to let you see what's inside.)
Double-click on the System32 folder. (Again, you might have to tell it to let you see what's inside.)
Scroll down the page until you locate a file named Clipbrd.exe
Then, of course, you could always Right click it and either:
1. > send to > desktop(create shortcut) or
2. pin to start menu.

Ahem. *Cue shameless plug for Stardock*:
Object dock has a very nice docklet that lets you take a time delayed screenshot and have it show up on your desktop as a jpeg or png without the need for opening up a graphics editor! Fantastic! I accept cash and credit cards....

Musical-Mayhem: No need to download any program to take a screenshot of your desktop, cuz that will just take up hard drive space. Simply press the Ctrl button plus the PrtSc button at the same time. Then open up Paint found in Accesoeries and go to Edit and select Paste. Then save your desktop in Save as. Simple and Clean.
